Description
Docks and houses of Bucksport. The town is on the Penobscot River 20 miles below Bangor and 40 miles above Rockland.
Founded in 1764, the town was an important fishing port. Overlooking the town is Fort Knox, built in 1844 to keep the town from being captured by the British during the border disputes with New Brunswick.
